Database and design environment for J1939

In developing a distributed J1939 ECU network, DBC files play a key role in describing communication. DBC databases contain descriptions of the properties of the J1939 network, the ECUs connected to the bus and the CAN messages and signals.

With the use of the DBC database under J1939, there are no breaks in the data format. This allows easy re-use and increases the security of the design and work with tools such as CANoe.

The CANdb++ editor was expanded with additional functionality especially for use with J1939 networks. Thus, for example, parameter groups can be defined with more than 8 data bytes without a problem.

The CANdb++ Editor is included as a product component of most CAN tools from Vector.
