Develop, simulate and test embedded systems with WLAN

Communication between different vehicles or between vehicles and the infrastructure is performed via WLAN standard IEEE 802.11p (ETSI ITS-G5 or IEEE 1609 WAVE). Option .Car2x extends CANoe by adding WLAN channels that comply with IEEE 802.11p. This permits direct analysis of both the Car2x-specific network and transport protocols and the application messages overlaid on them; in the Car2x field this might be the Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) and the Decentralized Environmental Notification Message (DENM) in Europe and in the U.S. the Basic Safety Message (BSM). Secured Packets are also supported here.

The Car2x function library (programming interface) that is available in CAPL offers special functions for accessing the information (signals/data) of the received packets and reacting to them. This library also makes it possible to create an environment simulation, which is a necessary prerequisite to stimulate ECUs and thus test them in specific ways. In addition to the display of information in a special Map Window, the typical CANoe analysis blocks like Trace, Data and Graphics Windows are also available.

  • Management of certificates and private keys which are needed to check the validity of secured packets or generate the security header (ETSI) or  the WSS layer (IEEE) including valid signatures for Tx packets
  • The assignment of received messages to ITS stations by means of transmitted certificates enables a vehicle based analysis as an alternative to the message based analysis.
  • Visualization of position, driving direction and states of objects as well as other data on a roadmap for a good overview of the scenario
