Measurement Data Acquisition, Data Evaluation and Diagnostic Testing with a Single Tool

With its CANdito product Vector is offering a powerful diagnostic and measurement tool designed to optimally support reliable development of automotive electronics.

Overview of Advantages:

  • Selection, parameterization and execution of diagnostic services, e.g. read-out and display of ECU IDs
  • .NET script language enables the exchange of scripts between CANdito, CANape, CANoe and Indigo. This eliminates the need for parallel development and maintenance.
  • Symbolic display of all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) including environment data and clearing of fault memory
  • Support of OBD (On Board Diagnostics)
  • Read-in of ODX 2.2.0 description files (ASAM standard format)
  • Measurement data acquisition form the CAN, LIN or FlexRay bus as well as external measuring devices and manual or script-controlled evaluation

Application Areas

During the development of electronic control units CANdito is used as a diagnostic tester both at the supplier and automotive OEM. CANdito's automation interface gives the user a manageable interface that might be used, for example, to automate access to diagnostic data at a test bench or in automated testing.

Scripts are defined using the integrated programming language; they are used to control complex procedures. This means that CANdito can serve both as a development platform and as an environment for executing processes.

To achieve full vehicle diagnostic capability CANdito supports functional addressing, e.g. reading the ECU IDs of all ECUs located in the vehicle that have diagnostic functionality. In addition to its diagnostic functionality CANdito can also handle periodic acquisition of diagnostic data, bus data or data from external measurement equipment.

Bus Data Analysis and ECU Communication

  • Achieve your goals quicker in analyzing bus communications for CAN, FlexRay and LIN. Display options in the Trace window have been extended considerably, and they now largely match those of CANoe (including fixed mode for displaying messages and various display filters)
  • CAN FD monitoring
  • You can conveniently save bus data in special recorders in BLF or MDF format
  • Triggered bus logging in BLF and MDF format including pre- and post-trigger times
  • Messages can be measured as individual objects, which can then be used as logging triggers, for example

Optimized User Interface

  • The Zoom function's operation in the Graphic Window does not depend on the direction mode setting
  • Easy to reuse windows, including their signals and settings, by defining templates
  • Deleted windows first go to a "trash bin" and can be restored as necessary
  • Zooming can be synchronized for all windows on a page or all windows in a configuration
  • Display filters permit selection of the displayed data (similar to an Excel data filter)
  • The number of default colors in the windows was increased to 24 to better distinguish signals in Graphic windows
  • Detailed description of CANape script language and its use

Logging Measurement Data

  • Supports the MDF 4.1 format including integration of attachments and compressed saving of measurement data
  • Trigger events within the post-trigger time lengthen the duration of logging, so that no trigger events are lost
  • If you split measurement data during the measurement, e.g. due to file size, the associated video files are now also cut synchronous to this split
  • You can easily display and modify comments in the measurement files

  • Rugged SoMat eDAQ measurement hardware from HBM
  • Video systems for acquiring visual perspectives in the field of driving safety research and man-machine interaction (faceLAB from Seeing Machines and Dikablis from Ergoneers)
